SAP Korea and Gyeongsang University have announced their agreement to establish a Corporate Software Engineering Department (SAP Software Major), marking the first domestic initiative in establishing an undergraduate program specialized in enterprise software. The newly established department aims to cultivate specialized workforce in SAP software. Through this collaboration, SAP Korea and Gyeongsang University seek to create a foundation for fostering a healthy environment for software talent development.
Gyeongsang University, which will jointly design and operate the curriculum with SAP, plans to introduce a "Reserved Employment" system in collaboration with companies in need of customized talent. This initiative aims to support the employment of students majoring in SAP
▲ Roadmap for Gyeongsang University's Corporate Software Engineering Department
Up to now, a total of 23 companies have entered into agreements for curriculum development and talent recruitment with Gyeongsang University, including SAP Korea, Woongjin, Nongshim Data System, ES Solution, ISTEN, DFOCUS, Zen Consulting, Mentor Consulting, Innoever Solution, BizGaon, Amic, Patagonia, Acegate, Biz & Tech Consulting, and others.
President Kim Hee-soo of Gyeongsang University expressed his delight at collaborating with SAP, the global leader in enterprise software, to develop socially tailored talents. He stated, "We will spare no effort in collaborating with leading companies that lead SAP and the domestic software industry to identify the talent profiles required by society and nurture the personnel who fulfill them."
For the 'Corporate Software Engineering Department SAP Software Major' program, SAP will collaborate with reserved employment companies to provide practical project experience. Additionally, SAP plans to develop university textbooks based on global standard educational materials and dispatch consultants with over 10 years of experience. In line with this, Gyeongsang University will hire these experts as faculty and provide high-quality education.
Furthermore, diligent participation in classes offered by the Corporate Software Engineering Department qualifies students to take SAP international certification exams. They will also have the opportunity to participate in simulated projects based on virtual corporate data and real corporate projects for practical field experience. Inquiries regarding SAP international certification and the Corporate Software Engineering curriculum can be made through SAP Korea's Education Department (education.korea@sap.com, 02-2194-2660).
Since last summer, SAP and Gyeongsang University have collaborated through the 'SAP Track,' one of Gyeongsang University's Creative Convergence College Frontier Schools aimed at fostering global business professionals. With the establishment of the SAP Software Major, this collaboration will expand further.
Gyeongsang University plans to select a total of 40 talents for the Corporate Software Engineering Department through direct admission in the 2017 academic year. For more information, please contact (kmlee@konyang.ac.kr, 041-730-5513).
