Ministry of Employment and Labor selects 12,455 small but strong 'SMEs'

More than 12,000 companies, including Ilkwang Metalforming Co., Defocus Co., Polytech Co., Samjin Precision Co., and Soman Corporation, have been selected as small but strong companies with competitive capabilities designated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 5th that it had finally selected 12,455 small and strong companies for 2015 after conducting a comprehensive evaluation of about 46,000 companies that were recognized as excellent companies by the government, local governments, and private institutions last year.
The number of small and strong companies for this year has increased by 28.5% compared to last year's 9,692.
By industry, the manufacturing industry accounted for the largest portion with 8,015 companies (64.3%), followed by the wholesale and retail industry with 1,962 companies (15.8%), and the information service industry including publishing and broadcasting with 984 companies (7.9%).
In terms of size, there are 1,686 companies (13.5%) with more than 100 employees, 2,344 companies (18.8%) with 50 to 100 employees, 2,964 companies (23.8%) with 30 to 50 employees, and 5,461 companies (43.8%) with less than 30 employees.
For example, Ilkwang Metalforming in Namdong-gu, Incheon, has been recognized for its high technical capabilities and recognition in various fields of sandwich panel molding machine manufacturing, and has won the President's Commendation and Gold Tower Industrial Medal. It also holds the second-largest market share in the world.
Polytech in Cheongwon-gun, Chungbuk, is a venture company engaged in the manufacture and sale of polyethylene valves, and has been recognized for having the highest flow coefficient (Cv) and ease of installation among PE valve manufacturers due to its unique technology. It also offers excellent internal welfare benefits such as scholarship support, long-service rewards, and child education support.
Companies selected as small but strong companies receive various financial and financial support benefits such as tailored recruitment support services, preferential treatment when designated as military service exempt companies, selection for employment creation support projects, and preferential treatment when participating in the youth internship program.
